Abstract
This graphic cycle by the Belarusian artist Maxim Osipau includes several works written in the style of naive Belarusian folk art – the art of painted wall carpets, with a special reference to a folk painter Alena Kish. The typical images and characteristic rules of this folk genre allowed Maxim Osipau to create a great visual narrative devoted to the problems of the very existence of Belarusian culture, as well as our relationship with the past, history, memory, national symbols and cultural heritage. Maxim deliberately sharpens examined issues in order to provoke society into a discussion.
